How to define a qualified Solenoid Switch

Solenoid Switch works under the temperature of -40ºC to 105ºC and relative humidity below 96%.  Its rated working time is 30 seconds. And the nut is stationary and all material should not contain asbestos, cadmium, not contain mercury, lead, hexavalent chromium.

A qualified solenoid switch must be passed through 96 hours salt spray test, and the resistance value of two main contacts is not over 1mΩ when the electric current go through the main contact is 200A. And the roughness of iron core surface must be guaranteed that its flexibly works and does not seize up.

Linamar called on parts suppliers to protest the Trump tariff policy

Linda Hasenfratz, CEO of Linamar Group, said recently that major Canadian, US and Mexican carmakers should join forces to boycott the Trump government’s tariff bill, foreign media reported.

Hasenfratz stated at the Detroit Automotive News World Congress on Wednesday, the border tax Trump made for Ford, GM and other companies is not conducive to the development of trade.

“It is very disturbing to increase trade barriers between these countries, and no one can imagine the consequences of a sevenfold increase in tariffs on products imported from these countries, which is much more than the average person can afford. The final victim is the customer.” In addition, she said, the end result of the rising cost of the auto industry is the intensification of global competition.

Delco Remy Tech Tip

Tech Tip: Core Return Center - How to Receive Credit for Your Core Returns

Delco Remy’s Core Return Center, based in Taylorsville, MS, is responsible for the administration of all heavy duty core returns. Following the core acceptance standard will help ensure you are properly credited for your return. The core must be assembled and should not be corroded. Additionally, it must be a Delco Remy starter or alternator.

Delco Remy will not reject cores for the following defects:

  • Damaged, cracked, broken or missing parts
  • Egg-shaped mounting or bushing holes
  • Missing fan or pulley
  • Damaged threads
  • Mushroomed alternator shaft ends
  • Seized starter armatures

When you send cores to Delco Remy, proper identification of the products in your shipment is key. Following these simple steps will help ensure your paperwork and shipment match. For each product, you should:

1.Determine if the product is an alternator or starter.

 2.Select the core group (36SI, 39MT, etc.).

If the product number is still visible, input that into our online catalog. This will help you identify the product. Delco Remy’s online Core Identification Guide also is a helpful tool for identifying the product.

Once the core reaches our dock, Delco Remy processes all cores in one to two business days using the following process to ensure an accurate evaluation: Assign a unique ID number to the shipment and packing list

  • Sort by core group, amperage and voltage
  • Count the total cores returned
  • Match the actual returned count to the packing list
  • Input core return information into the center’s information system
  • Reconcile what was shipped with what was received and communicate with the customer

Starter Motor, How they Work (Parts 5) – armature & commutator

The armature
This sits in a field housing (or body – yoke). There are two types of field housing; one with permanent magnets, the other with field coils which are wound around ‘pole shoes’. These pole shoes only become magnetised when a current flows around them.

Most field coil windings can be replaced - although they are often hard to remove because the pole shoe screws are normally very tight indeed. The permanent magnet version suffers more from un-stuck magnets (which can be stuck back) - but don't turn them round. Broken magnets are normally caused by being tapped with a hammer.

The commutator
Usually at the back of the armature is the commutator. The brushes bear directly on this to transfer the electrical current to and from the armature.

Continental:the transfer to electric car may lead to job losses

According to foreign media reports, the German auto parts supplier Continental Group CEO Elmar Degenhart recently talked to the German weekly “Sunday World News” said that the transfer of the automotive industry to the center of the field of electric vehicles will cause part of the Continental Group jobs loss. However, electric vehicles (electric cars, electric buses and electric bikes) will also bring new jobs.

Degenhart pointed out that in view of the low value-added, production jobs will be in the phenomenon of loss. However, whether the lost jobs are less than the new jobs brought about by the new trend, Degenhart think it is not easy to say, “For now, there is still plenty of time to make measures to reduce the negative impact of new trends.”

According to the Sunday World newspaper, there are 218,000 jobs on the mainland, 30,000 of which are related to internal combustion engines.

Last month, Continental said it would increase its investment in electric vehicle components in the coming years, and the additional revenue from new R & D projects is expected to offset the revenue impact of investing in electric vehicle components.
